I made these pendants today with mother of pearl shells with crystals, vintage pearl beads, freshwater pearls and silver beads.

Friendship cards
I made these cards after I found the image of the girls in a 1967 primary school textbook, back in the days when radio broadcasts were used in the classroom. This was an ABC radio book that students followed while listening to the broadcast. This image was from the unit on friendship and I love the illustration. I've put some Japanese craft fabric behind it and some ribbon and stitched it on the machine. The inside is lined with an insert.

Dragonflies
I went to my first market today since living in QLD and my first since making jewellery. It went quite well considering it was the first. I took this Dragonfly painting there and got a lot of nice comments about it. It's acrylic on canvas then mounted on board painted bright red. I also sold one of my Dragonfly necklaces to a lady who is moving to India and opening a restaurant called 'Dragonfly' in Mumbai, so make sure you check it out if going to Mumbai! Sounds good to me.

Birthday present
Pendants and Op shopping
Well today was great because I got my coloured leather in the mail and made a few necklaces which look great. I also picked up the plate in the photo for $1 at an op shop in town, along with some a nice little cut glass tray and vase and this awesome cabbage patch doll. It looks like her first owner liked doing haircuts, but Holly doesn't mind. Here are a few pics of the pendants with necklaces on them, and one of the new doll on my display table with Holly.

fabric covered pegs
making old things new
I revamped a friend's beaded necklace by covering the cube with Yuzen paper then finishing with acrylic resin. I also covered 4 of the beads with several small pieces of Yuzen paper then lacquered them. I can't believe I didn't take a 'before' photo, as although it was a nice piece before, it looks much nicer now. Doing this is what led me to do the beads for the key chains. I am burning a coffee scented candle in the photo and this tea cup belonged to my grandfather. Needless to say after I took the photos I had a cup of tea and ate both types of Lindt chocolate pictured.

Things I made today
Here are some things I made today, I made lots of leather necklaces for my pendants, the markets are only a week away so I want to get lots made. I also made 3 keyrings with charms and beads. I covered the feature bead of each one with small pieces of Yuzen paper in layers then lacquered it. I have also been making displays for my upcoming market. It's amazing what you can make out of someone else's rubbish. I made my display board for the Australian Outback wooden pendants from polystyrene offcuts from my friends' new patio roof, covered in a piece of hessian I've had in my drawer for about 6 years. I always meant to use it for something.

Pendants
My favourite thing for the week
This week my favourite thing is this beautiful coffee scented candle I bought. A friend, Toni, makes them and I went over and picked up a few candles and this was my favourite. If only I could transmit the smell to you, it is SO good! Love it. Can't wait to go back and get more!! Heaven Scent Candles is the name of her business and there are the most amazing smelling candles I've ever experienced.
